It looks like a merry go round in South African boxing at the moment with two top fighters moving from one promoter to another that could emerge into drawn-out legal battles.

It has been reported that Nhlanhla Tyirha (sometimes referred to as Ntlanta) has left Xaba Promotions who took him to a South Africa title and joined rival Eastern Cape promotion company Last Born Promotions.

Another outstanding prospect light flyweight Yanga Sigqibo 13-1-1; 3 has also been reported as leaving Xaba promotions and joining Rumble Africa Promotions.

The promising young prospect 19-year-old Tyirha, 4-1; 2 won the South African light flyweight title in his fourth fight when he stopped the more experienced southpaw Bongani Silila 16-6-3; 12 in the third round on December 7, 2018.

In his next fight, he went in against the former South African and world champion the vastly more experienced Nkosinathi Joyi in a fight that was a step too far so early in his career and was well beaten on a unanimous 12 round point’s decision for the WBO Africa light flyweight title.

Sigqibo made his pro debut on November 2017 and won his first four fights before losing to Ayanda Dulani on points over four rounds.

However, this skilful young fighter who relies more on science than power has now won his next nine fights in style which included the WBC International and WBO Intercontinental junior bantamweight titles.

It is hoped that the legal wrangles outside the ring will not tarnish the careers of these two talented fighters.
