Eubank Jr wins in three

Super-middleweight Chris Eubank Jr smashed Avni Yildirim to defeat in three rounds in the World Boxing Super Series quarterfinal at the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer Arena in Stuttgart, Germany on Saturday night.

Eubank 26-1; 20 dropped Yildirim 16-1; 10 to one knee in the first round.

In round three with both fighters throwing big bombs as they stood toe-to-toe Eubank landed a smashing left hook that dropped Yildirim.

Yildirim tried to get up but the referee stepped in to wave the fight off.


In an interesting lightweight bout between former world champions Anthony Crolla 32-6-3; 13 beat Ricky Burns 41-7-1; 14 on a unanimous points decision over twelve rounds.

The scores were 117-112, 116-114 and 116-113.

On the same card Mohamed Mimoune 19-2; 2 won on a split decision over Sam Eggington 24-4; 13 to take the European welterweight title.

The scores were 116-112 and 115-113 for Mimoune, and 116-112 for Eggington.


In a bout for the vacant British heavyweight title Sam Sexton 24-3; 9 won on a close unanimous twelve rounds points decision over Gary Cornish 24-2; 12 at the Meadowbank Sports Centre in Edinburgh, Scotland on Friday night.

Having his first fight since July 2015 Sexton won with scores of 116-114, 116-113 and 115-114.


Welshman Andrew Selby 10-0; 5 beat Mexico’s Maximo Flores 23-4-1-2nc; 16 on a 12 rounds unanimous points decision in a WBC flyweight title eliminator at the York Hall in London on Saturday night.

The scores were 119-109, 117-111 and 117-112.

Selby hopes to challenge the WBC champion Daigo Higa of Japan providing he makes a successful defence against Thomas Masson in Kokugikan on Sunday, October 22.
