SA men finish 12th in water polo

The South African men’s Water Polo team made World Championships history today as they finished the tournament in 12th place out of the 16 competing teams.

This is the first time a Mzansi men’s side has made the top 12, despite going down 7 – 11 to Kazakhstan in their final match of the 16th FINA World Championships in Kazan.

“I am an extremely proud coach after today’s performance from the men. We competed on the big stage for the majority of the game and fought to the end.

“We can measure the growth of the team by directly comparing the two games we played against them at this event. Chalk and cheese so to speak.” said the head coach, Paul Martin.
