Sport programme launched in PTA
A programme to address information and research gaps in the sport, recreation, and fitness sector was launched in Pretoria on Thursday.
The aim of the sport research programme was to allow for a significant amount of post-graduate research to be conducted, said Sport and Recreation SA (SRSA) spokesman Justin de Allende.
"The programme will help refine and, where necessary, develop new methods for collecting sector skills information," he said.
Sport and Recreation Minister Fikile Mbalula said the 2013/14 financial year would be used to pilot the programme.
"A few students presenting on progress of their studies at the 2012 SRSA Conference will be identified," he said.
"Based on their research topics, they will receive bursaries for the remainder of their studies."
A full bursary scheme of more than R9 million would be offered to 30 post-graduate students over three years from 2014.
