Cornet downs Wickmayer in Bad Gastein final

France's Alize Cornet won the second title of her career on the clay at Bad Gastein on Sunday, beating Belgium's world number 37 Yanina Wickmayer in straight sets 7-5, 7-6 (7/1).

The 22-year-old from Nice, ranked 73rd in the world, has produced her best results on clay in the past and here she edged the first set before sealing victory in a second-set tie-break, albeit only after squandering a chance to serve out the match at 5-4.

It was Cornet's first title since Budapest in 2008.
