Scheepers gets tough Aus Open draw



Chanelle Scheepers faces a tough challenge from the first round of the Australian Open in Melbourne which starts on Monday.

Scheepers, South Africa's top-ranked women's tennis player, was drawn against former world No 2 Svetlana Kuznetsova on Friday for the first round of the Grand Slam tournament.

Kevin Anderson, who is seeded 30th, will face a qualifier in the first round of the men's singles.

Meanwhile, veteran Rik de Voest, the only South African left in the qualifying rounds, overcame Farrukh Dustov of Uzbekistan in the second round on Friday.

De Voest will face Italian Matteo Viola in the final qualifying round on Saturday for a place in the main draw.
