Bubka Jr remains in hospital after fall

Ukrainian tennis player Sergei Bubka Junior, son of the legendary pole vaulter of the same name, remained hospitalised in Paris on Friday after surgery for broken bones sustained in a three-storey fall from a flat in the city, local media reported.

The number 186 journeyman who played eight ATP-level matches in 2012 -the last in Atlanta during the summer - was being treated at the European Hospital Georges Pompidou with few details on his condition available.

The 25-year-old, romantically linked to women's world No 1 Victoria Azarenka, was reported to have undergone surgery after the accident, which French media described as a fall from a friend's flat located near the Tour Eiffel.

RMC-Sport website said that the player found himself locked in a bathroom and tried to get into a nearby window after crawling onto a ledge, from which he tumbled.

Bubka lost a Challenger match in Geneva on Tuesday against German Bjorn Phau.
