Good win for unseeded Ventura

Unseeded Santiago Ventura of Spain beat Igor Andreev of Russia 6-4, 6-1 on Tuesday in the first round BCR Open Romania.

"I played well and I feel excellent on the court," Ventura said.

"Andreev is a good player and it's hard to beat him."

Second-seeded Nicolas Almagro of Spain also advanced, defeating Simone Bolelli of Italy 6-4, 6-3.

Sixth-seeded Daniel Koellerer of Austria, who was making his debut in the main draw at the BCR Open, beat Italian veteran Filippo Volandri 2-6, 7-5, 6-3, and 18-year-old Marius Copil of Romania defeated Victor Crivoi of Romania 6-3, 6-2.

Also, third-seeded Juan Monaco of Argentina defeated Julio Silva of Brazil 6-2, 6-4, and fifth-seeded Alberto Montanes of Spain beat Potito Starace of Italy 6-4, 6-2.
