Rezai, Govortsova advance in Istanbul

Fourth-seeded Aravane Rezai of France and N. 7 Olga Govortsova of Belarus advanced to the second round of the Istanbul Cup in Turkey on Monday.

Rezai beat Viktoriya Kutuzova of Ukraine 7-6 (3), 6-2, and Govortsova edged Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 at the clay-court tournament.

Marta Domachowska of Poland rallied to defeat Patricia Mayr of Austria 1-6, 6-2, 6-0, Timea Bacsinszky of Switzerland topped Polona Hercog of Slovenia 6-2, 6-2, and Pemra Ozgen of Turkey downed Arantxa Rus of Netherlands 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-2.
