Anderson breaks into world top 20

Kevin Anderson becomes the sixth South African men's singles player to be ranked in the world's top 20, when the latest ATP World Tour singles rankings were announced on Monday.

The South African No 1 broke the top-20 barrier, climbing two places to reach a career-best number 19.

Other South Africans ranked inside the top-20 in the past were Kevin Curren ranked No 5 in July 1985, Wayne Ferreira reached No 6 in May 1995, Johan Kriek seven in September 1984, Cliff Drysdale 13 in May 1974 and Christo Van Rensburg was ranked 19th in February 1988.

South Africa's top-ranked women's player, Chanelle Scheepers, dropped to 79 in the latest women's world tennis rankings released on Monday.
