Tennis 2012: the Year in Pictures
On the men's side it was a bit of a free-for-all in 2012, but for the women it was Serena Williams who once again rose to the occasion in the big events.
For the first time since 2003, four different men won the four Grand Slams, but you would probably give the year to Andy Murray after his demolition on Roger Federer in the Olympic final on the courts of Wimbledon before going on to claim his first major title at the US Open.
Roger Federer broke the world record for the most weeks spent at No 1, going past Pete Sampras's 286, but it was Novak Djokovic who ended the year in the top spot fior the second year running.
Williams too her Slam tally to 15 with wins at Wimbledon and the US Open, and claimed the singles and doubles gold medals at the Olympics as well. She became the first player in history to achieve the Golden Career Slam in both singles and doubles.
