Kohlschreiber to lead Germans at Dusseldorf event

German No 1 Philipp Kohlschreiber will lead compatriots Benjamin Becker and Tobias Kamke as the former World Team Cup gets a makeover as an ATP 250 event on clay next May.

The final tune-up before the start of the French Open will run from May 19-25 with strong local players support after three decades as the ATP's team competition.

Serbia won the last edition of the WTC last May before the event was buried due to commercial difficulties. The new tournament will have the same sponsor and the same management team led by tournament director Dietloff von Arnim.

"With Kohlschreiber, Becker and Kamke in the line-up, it means three German top tennis players will be competing at the Rochusclub. It's great news and we're very happy," said the event boss.

Kophschreiber said he is keen to see taste the new ambience at the legendary Rochusclub.

"It offers the best possible conditions and the atmosphere is simply unbelievable. I'm really looking forward to the tournament," said the ATP number 20, who will be playing at the venue for the ninth time.

Also entered will be confirmed Germanophile Janko Tipsarevic, ninth in the world. The 28-year-old began his love affair with Dusseldorf during three appearances for Serbia at the WTC, two of which led to titles, lifting the trophy in 2009 and 2012.
