The best of Super Rugby 2012
The 2012 Vodacom Super Rugby season gave us six months' worth of action-packed entertainment. We thought it would be worth our while to take one last look at its best moments.
Throughout the 125 games in the season we loaded 1338 near-live clips to accompany the live coverage on our iPad application. Before these disappear into the archive we chose our favourite moments to share with you.
We’ll be bringing the same interactive 2nd-screen experience for all Springbok matches this year, so if you haven’t done so already, pop into the Apple App Store and download the updated version of the SuperSport.com for iPad application.
Please note that video footage is for the website only and is rights restricted and therefore only available in regions that fall within SuperSport’s broadcast footprint.

Still, throughout the season they gave us glimpses of what took them to Cup glory last year. Here’s a taster:
- TOP TRIES 2012: LIONS
The Sharks made a slow start to the season, hampered by injuries and a lack of form. When they got it together, however, they started playing an irresistible brand of rugby, and bull-dozed their way right into the tournament’s final. Here is how they got there:
- TOP TRIES 2012: SHARKS
The DHL Stormers won the South African conference for the second year running with their structured, safety-first approach. In 2012 they took it one step further, ending top of the tournament’s overall log. Unfortuntely they ran into a seriously in-form Sharks outfit in the semi-final and failed to progress. Still there were many highlights for their fans throughout the year. Here are some of them:

Now Super Rugby is not all about scoring tries, sometimes they are stopped as well, often in spectacular fashion. Here are our favourite try-saving tackles of the season:

When you get 44 over-grown men bumping into each other, and this happens seven times a weekend for almost six months, you’re bound to have some spectacular collisions. Here are 2012’s biggest hits:
- BIG HITS 2012
The 2012 season had its fair share of disciplinary controversies. We think the best way to sum up that particular aspect of the season is to ask a question:

Finally, there are some moments that simply can’t be properly described in words. You have to see it to believe it. Here are our “Did you see that?” moments:
