Buk Massie asked:
What age did you start doing weights and what profession would you e doing without your rugby career.
Cheers
Frankie answered:
Hi Buk, believe it or not, i only started doing weights at 21. I studied photography and is quite heavy into that and videography. Cheers
anthony asked:
hey Frankie i would like to start playing 7s but don''t know where to start? Are there any 7s clubs in cape town or would i have to start in union? Thanks
Frankie answered:
Hi Anthony, i don't know of any clubs that specifically just do the sevens thing, but i know clubs play a sevens tournament once a year in every province and select a provincial team out of them. So i would recommend that, thats how i got in.
Anthony McLaughlin asked:
How many hours do you train a day and how many day''s a week
Frankie answered:
Hi Anthony, we come in every morning at 7 at our base camp and leave roughly by 5 or 6. Which we normally do weigh in and a online recovery questionare, strapping, team meeting, 1 or 2 hr field session, gym, lunch, team meeting, strapping, and another 1 or 2 hr field session depending on the management. Not every days the same as we do different things every day to cover various aspects of our game and fitness levels. But that is a normal day and we train 5 days a week and even on saturdays if we haven't covered enough.
Cheers
Jaco Coetzee asked:
Hi Frankie. Good luck there in Wellington. Know the SA team will do us proud. Do you ever miss the old days playing for Wellington in the Boland and would you return to Wellington maybe coaching in the distant future or even play for Boland again?
Frankie answered:
Hi Jaco, who knows where the journey will take me. I do miss the old days, but things change in rugby every day and sevens tests my abilities on a daily basis, which i like. So if the opportunity for coaching or playing presents itself in the future it's worth considering.
Cheers
Chris Hoops asked:
Frankie,
Are you considering entering the 15-man game any time in the future? If so, when? You''d make a very good loosie.
Regards
Chris H
Frankie answered:
Hi Chris, thanks for the compliment. I would like to finish my rugby career at 7's but you never know. If the bug still bites and i feel like it,i should probably make the move in the next 2 years or so.
Regards Frankie
ziniko asked:
hey frankie how are there preparations in wellington?are you gys ready ?send my greetings to cecil and brancho
Frankie answered:
All is going well at this stage and all the guys are good to go. I will pass on the message to Branco and Cecil.
Cheers
dave asked:
Frankie, hi, do u have a nickname in the team and what is it?
Frankie answered:
Hi Dave, yes i do have a few actually. The guys call me Tank most of the time and occasionally it's "DIKKES" or something in that line being the heaviest in the team.
Cheers
Jan asked:
Frankie, wie is die fikste ou in julle span?
Frankie answered:
Hi Jan, dit sal beslis Steven Hunt moet wees, hy en Kyle Brown is gewoontlik haar breedte by toetse van mekaar af maar op die laaste toetse het Stevie beter getoets.
Lekker dag
Frankie
Theunis asked:
Frankie, how much did the loss in PE affect you guys and is there a sense of unfinished business at the moment in the team?
Frankie answered:
Hi Theunis, we were heart broken after that one, but it's part of the game. We did exactly the same to Aus in Edinburgh last season so things like that do happen, some you win in the last minute and others you lose. The guys are focussed and ready for the next two tournaments and will give it our best shot and try to make up for the one that got away.
Cheers
Don asked:
Hi, why is it that we stuggle traditionally in Wellington? Is the wind a factor in the games and what is the vibe like?
Frankie answered:
Hi Don, i can't really give you an answer to that question because i don't really know either. But what i can say is that, Wellington is a very intimidating place particularly on game day. They got tons full of All Black support and teams like us and the Ausies and even the English get booed off the park. All Blacks, islanders and minnow teams are the favourites here.
Cheers
Joey asked:
Frankie, which is your favourite tournament to play in and why?
Frankie answered:
Hi Joey, it was Adelaide because of the fast pitch and SA support, but PE just stunned me hey.The support was phenomenal and the facilities stunning. So PE it is.
Cheers
JC asked:
Hi Frankie
I''m a big fan of your physical approach to the 7-man game, and think you''re invaluable to the Blitzbokke.
My question: what position do you play in the 15-man game?
Frankie answered:
Thanks for the compliment, i played hooker and flank.
Cheers
Barry asked:
I''ve heard that you need to be fitter for sevens than for 15s? Is this true?
Frankie answered:
Hi Barry, yes it is true. The fifteens game requires a lot of fitness but sevens a bit more. The 15s game needs a lot more endurance training than 7s, where 7s needs more speed endurance because it's faster running at a higher average pace over a shorter period.
Cheers
Petrus asked:
Wie is jou moeilikste teenstander?
Frankie answered:
Lekker dag
Gareth asked:
How is stephan dippenaar fitting into the team?
Frankie answered:
Hi Gareth, Dippies is fitting very nicely into our setup. He's a very entertaining caracter and a very good rugby player. He has yet to prove himself on the sevens circuit, but i have a lot of confidence that he will produce the goods.
Cheers
Janet asked:
Do you think you''ll still be around when Sevens debuts at the Olympics in a few years time? And how much of a focus is that for the team in general?
Frankie answered:
Hi Janet. No, i doubt if i will still be playing by then. Sevens is very taxing on the body (believe it,or not) due to all the training and staying fit and ready for all the 9 legs. And every year it gets tougher with increasing amount of tournaments, minnow teams getting better and more money getting pump into the game. The team tends not to focus too much on the olympics because the circuit still goes on, but there is a lot of planing going on behind the scene for it and we have a sevens academy preparing the new generation of sevens players for the olympics.
Frankie
Tim Forssman asked:
Hi Frankie, which of the tournaments that you have played in has been most memorable and why? Keep up the great play, we proudly support the Blitzbokke!
Frankie answered:
Hi Tim, thanks for the support. Both tournaments that we won back to back are my favourites. Dubai, George because it's the first back to back and last seasons London and Edinburgh legs for how we won them .
Kind Regards
Johan asked:
Hi Frankie, Paul has been the coach of our sevens team for a number of years now (with great results), do you think we''re doing the right thing in ''rotating'' the coach every time there''s a bad season (4 years) with the 15''s or should we stick to one coach like the sevens does..Goodluck for the future...Cheers
Frankie answered:
Hi Johan, i can't really give you an answer on that one because both games differs so much, but NZ has had a fifteen and sevens coach for a longer period than normal and it works for them.
Kind regards
Anthony McLaughlin asked:
Hi Frankie, weer ek, wat sal jy aanbeveel om jou fiksheid te verbeter. Kort nalope of lang afstande. Thanks en sterkte daar.
Frankie answered:
Bietjie van albei of altans baie van albei.
Laurie Meiring asked:
Cecil Afrika reckons you have the worst music taste on the team, what music do you listen to?
Frankie answered:
Hi Laurie, alternative and SA Rock.
Cheers
