Potgieter, Roux extend contracts

The Vodacom Bulls moved to seal another double signing as both Bok flanker Jacques Potgieter and scrum coach Wessel Roux extended their contracts with the Blue Bulls Company.

Potgieter, who joined from EP in 2011, and became a Springbok in 2012, will continue to be a Bull until the end of 2015, and will start this weekend against the Force on the side of the scrum.

Roux, who was widely credited for the Bulls' strong scrum against the Stormers last weekend, is now not only the under-19 forwards coach but has been appointed as the scrum coach to all junior and senior Blue Bulls’ sides.

“I am very happy in Pretoria and have progressed so much as a player since my arrival here. I would like to stay on and develop my game even further. The great work ethic makes it easy to operate here if you believe in working hard,” Potgieter said.

BBC High Performance Manager Xander Janse van Rensburg was very pleased with this development.

“Jacques has shown himself as one of the most committed and versatile loose forwards in the country over the last couple of seasons. His abrasiveness fits well with our style of play and to have him around till at least the end of November 2015 is a real bonus for us.”

The Bulls earlier signed on IRB Junior player of the year Jan Serfontein, but have lost the battle for Juandre Kruger, with the Bok lock heading to Frans. Flyhalf Morne Steyn has indicated a move to France as well, but has not made a final decision yet.
