Rugby Champs 2012: Year in Pictures

The inaugural Castle Rugby Championship started off with victory for the Springboks under new coach Heyneke Meyer. The troubles started the very next week as the Boks took on a much improved Argentina in Mendoza and were lucky to walk away with a draw. - THE YEAR IN PICTURES

On the other side of the world the new Champions handed out rugby lessons to Australians two weeks in a row and they welcomed the Springboks to their shores a week later. The springboks only have themselves to blame for not winning the match in Dunedin and the following match against the Australians in Perth.

On home soil the Springboks were always going to be tougher to beat and they smashed the hapless Australians into submission in Pretoria. The All Blacks watched from a distance and they gave the Boks a good taste of their medicine when the two teams faced each other at FNB Stadium the following week. - CLICK HERE FOR THE YEAR IN PICTURES - SPRINGBOKS 2012

Argentina had come close to winning in their previous games and they believed victory would surely be theirs as they welcomed a wounded Australian side. The Australians forgot to read the script and beat the Argentines in their own backyard.

The long season had been too long for the Argentines who lacked the depth for one more game, let alone a game against the World Champions who went on to beat their hosts and be crowned the inaugural champions of the Rugby Championship.
