Uys suspended for two weeks
Free State Cheetahs lock Francois Uys has been suspended from all rugby for two weeks.
The SA Rugby Union (Saru) said in a statement on Thursday that a disciplinary hearing the day before had found Uys guilty of striking an opponent with the head in the face.
He pleaded guilty of striking a Griquas player in last week's Currie Cup match in Kimberley, but he denied that the contact was made with the face of the opponent as stated in the report by the citing commissioner.
Meanwhile, Griffons Under-21 flyhalf Ryno Venter was also suspended for two weeks after he was found guilty of a dangerous tackle in a match against the Griquas U-21 side, also in Kimberley last week.
