Valke make one change

A young prop with a very famous rugby name will make his provincial debut for the Valke when they meet the Eagles in George on Saturday.

Philip Nel, a product of Northcliff High and the Johannesburg University, is still only 21 years old, but has impressed enough in two afternoons' training to warrant a start.

Nel's inclusion is the only change to the team that narrowly lost to the once Mighty Elephants in Kempton Park on Saturday.

The young Lourens Grobler lost his place in the 22.

The Valke are waiting till Thursday to see if Reg Muller recovers from the result of a spear tackle and another UJ student Sokkies van Schalkwyk is on standby.

A decision about the reserve scrumhalf and utility back will only be made on Thursday morning.

Valke vs Eagles: Tsepo Kokoali; GD Kotzé, Franco Booysen, Corné Uys, Wensley Mbanje; Jonathan Jacobs, Haas Snyman; Bovril de Bruin (capt), Bradley Fortuin, Reg Muller, Porra Knoetze, Martin Lombard, Philip Nel, Tango Gatya, KP du Plessis.

Reserves: BB Hefer, Jacques George, Eves Bashiya, Liebrecht Gericke, Alvandré Maart/Ryno Hendriks, Clinton Kayser, Dieter de la Porte/Martin Thomsen.
