I hope supersport don't put Joost van der westhuizen back on TV. Give the cloured people al so a chance with commentary on rugby. up to now they did a pretty good job

Amazing to think, the three outcasts from Transvalers view point,Bob, Percy and John, became legends.Percy and John
both hold numerous records and Bob is still there when others disappeared.Dumb dutchmen, the Valies

ZCS (Cape TOwn) - Friday August 07 2009 - 16:33
Starting XV couldn't be stronger.
Would make couple of changes to the bench though.
Send January back to King Pie || Adi Jacobs to have his shoulder operation
Pienaar to cover 9/10.
Olivier to cover 12/13/wing
Also replace Chilliboy (i can't make provincial XV) Ralepelle with another prop as we have 2 hookers (Smit || B.Du PLessis) already. Allow Bismark to play full 80 minutes as he is in excellent form.
5/2 Bench gives us options to adapt according to how game evolves vs Aus.
All in all STARTING XV excellent and back them to win by 15 points.

We all this team is good enough to maintain its unbeaten run in this year's Tri-Nations and even win it, but much will depend on the weather conditions in Newlands and the referee. Springboks also have to bring their A-game because the Wallabies will not roll over and die. The Bokke coach has done a brilliant job since he has come in judging buy the fact that all that he has made news about is his interview tactics.Go Bokke.

Koos (Pretoria) - Friday August 07 2009 - 10:27
For the first time in may years I cannot think of a better starting line for the Boks. All these players are on form and deseve to be in the starting lineup. I cannot even think of one player that is not under the top five in his position in world rugby. I am not a PDV fan but at least he is listening to all the calls from all over the country and with the right players on the field it surely is not that difficult to coach anymore. May we nail the Aussies this weekend with a record score. GO BOKKE!!!!!!

Andre Ras (Pretoria) - Friday August 07 2009 - 07:49
I think the team is strong, balanced and the in-form players have been picked. I feel sorry for Ruan Pienaar who is undoubtedly a good rugby player, but struggling to find form (let's remember, he doesn't pick himself). I am a huge Morne Steyn fan, and I am glad that he has been given the opportunity to show what he's got. I have to be honest ... it seems as if the players are starting to warm to Div, which is a good thing. The Boks are playing great rugby, and it is good to see that all concerned are sure that they can improve even more ... we are in for one hell of a ride! GO BOKKE!

mark bowman (taiwan) - Friday August 07 2009 - 07:30

We should pick a team from the Southern Hemisphere from the Tri-Nations and play against the British and Irish Lions. Call it North versus South!! Now that I would love to see. We should crush them!

Love the game , stand up for each other , respect the jersey, the emblem stand tall and you will come out victorious. You are the best Test team on Earth at this moment and enjoy it. You thoroughly deserve it. If ever i had to go to war it would have to be with guys like you.

lets give credit where it is due. to firstly the coach and then the players. will Mr Retief and Mr Rich stop hogging on about the 'Jake' era and about direct rugby being the reason for the recent results. it just shows your prejudice and lack of intellect. rugby is a contact sport and needs to be played directly. i know what they mean when they mention direct rugby but DV's style allowed us for the first time in post isolation to not fear the AB team. even the team did not panic when faced with a 10-3 scoreline. this never happened, even under Jake. and Jake knew his own shortcomings, but the experts overlook this. Jake had Eddie Jones help to teach defensive patterns and ball handling. Eddie was the difference in winning the world cup. if we met AB and Aus we would have not won. we did not beat them in that years tri-nations. last years results under DV reflected the wrong interpretation of ELV's. most got it wrong. the teams failures are his, so must be the successes. or should we say that before Kitch in 95, strong defense did not exist. so 2007 was because of Kitch? even under Jake with direct rugby we feared the AB. not under DV. we beat them on their home soil and now twice in two weeks. the players reflect this belief in their play. the players may be the same from 2007 but their performances reflect the difference between the coaches. if you ask me, ill take not fearing the AB to not meeting them in the world cup, losing to them in 07 tri nations and asking Eddie for help.

The game against AUS this weekend is i believe the final chapter in terms of how good is this Bok team. This team thrashed AUS and Eng in 2008 when i didnt mean much. We have now beaten NZ, at home, twice when the pressure was on. If i was an Aussie i would be slightly worried about tactics. All the talk is how they must play to counter the boks. We have heard it so many times, dont worry about how the opposition plays but play your own game. When you worry too much about countering the opponents then you forget what you should be doing. Hopefully this is the case and the boks stick to their game and give them a whalloping.
It is ineteresting to see that all the boks are doing is playing to their own stengths and sticking to their game plan. This is how it should be done to win.
I dont believe the Aussies have anything for us to be afraid of. The team and tactics havent changed from Ellis Park 2008. We must be confident, not complacent, stick to the plan and wipe the field with them.

Conversation this whole week has centred around Joel Stransky. He is shocking and his interviews even worse. Please guys - we do have better commentators who will do us proud internationally as well as locally. Stransky is an embarassment!

Hi guys and gals.
What a game we are going to have on Saturday. Can't wait ! It seems like the Wallabies are pumped up and we would like it no other way. It's good that they want to take a heads on approach against the bokke. Newlands will be a battlefield that's for sure. My condolences goes to Robbie Deans and his family for the death of his father. I hope that they will give a moment of silence for Robbie and his family just to pay our respects. I understand why the Wallabies would want to win the match for him. We would do the same. But I'm sure they know that we are not here to do any-one favours so they must come out and fight for it. So GO BOKKE ! We know you can do it !

We have a great springbok rugby team. The team can even be better if Ryan Kankowski sits on the bench for Rossouw and Ruaan Pienaar plays flyhalf

Otto Saayman (Pretoria) - Wednesday August 05 2009 - 12:09
Peter staffen: He is in the team because he is a good backup for both loose-forward and lock - That's what I think.
A bit off-topic: Thanks, Supersport, for covering the Griquas game.

Alex (Jo`burg) - Wednesday August 05 2009 - 11:56
Hi there ladies and gents
Few quick points about last week and the match this coming weekend.
Firstly great win. We were very disciplined with sticking to a rigid game plan, and MS produced a goal-kicking clinic! Very big defensive performance from all involved, plus Jacques Fourie was superb under the high ball. Only "criticism" (a harsh word in my opinion given it was such a good win) was a lack of tries, but I have every confidence they'll begin to roll in!
On to next week oposition, there are a few members of this Australia squad who if picked could prove to be quite a handful:
Benn Robinson - very tidy operator in the scrum, solid technique and also good in the loose, think Beast may have slightly more of a task matching up to this guy, though I'm backing him all the way obviously!
Stephen Moore - solid line-out thrower, very good ball carrier, whilst maybe not quite as abrasive as Bismarck, is quite a bit quicker as a runner
George Smith - breakdown magician, Heinrich's biggest test yet methinks. Both similar in stature and the Ozzie has come off the back of a, personally, very good Super 14
Cliff Palu - well the bloke has caused us problems down the years, and lets face it the guys built like a brick sh*thouse! hopefully Spies can match up and upstage him as we know he can
Matt Giteau - possibly the world's best at present (Carter injured/recovering so not counted) and has this unbelievable ability to unlock defences almost at will. Deceptively quick, great passer and kicker. MS needs to be very careful and watch this guy carefully, he's electric
Berrick Barnes - quite underrated (IMO) due to the presence of the men either side of him, MG and Mortlock, but Barnes nonetheless is a classy operator. Goes about his work very effectively, whilst not the most physically imposing centre around, is very smart and can pick a gap, and has a solid side-step, as shown by his try in the game against NZ three weeks ago. Also has a very reliable boot!
Stirling Mortlock - powerful runner, huge boot, bags of experience. Will definately give our centres more to think about than Nonu ever did, show us what you can do Jacques and Jean!!
Lachie Turner - also off the back of a good Super 14, impressed in their earlier internationals. This fella has some serious toe, and will need to be monitored carefully by Pietersen
I still believe we have the stronger side, these are just players I think we need to bare in mind if we're going to make it three from three at home. I'm sure we'll come away with a good win, hopefully scoring a few more tries and taking away the bonus oportunity
Boks to win by 12. Come on BOKKE!

Heini (Klerksdorp) - Wednesday August 05 2009 - 11:38
For the first time since winning the World Cup the strongest and form 15 players are picked on merit, and it shows in our results. Bench is still a worry though. It's good to be a Springbok supporter these days. IRB No 1 Ranked, World Cup Champions, 7's World Champions, Series Winners over BI Lions, Super 14 Champions and hopefully Tri Nations.....dont know the stats but has their ever been a side that had all the accolades at once??
