Die Burger Competition Commences



South Western Districts, Eastern Province, Western Province and Boland take part in this annual tussle, similar in format to the Beeld Trophy that takes place north of the Vaal River.

Schools play according to their size categories, Big, Medium and Small. The teams from South Western Districts and Eastern Province compete in semifinals on 18 August while Western Province and Boland play on 22 August, with the finals scheduled for 1 September.

The break-down of school representatives to take part in the semis is as follows:

Big Schools:

Western Province: Paarl Gimnasium
Boland: Hugenote
South Western Districts: Outeniqua
Eastern Province: Daniël Pienaar

Medium Schools

Western Province: Hottentots Holland
Boland: To be decided by a match between Augsburg and New Orleans
South Western Districts: Punt, Langenhoven Gimnasium or Oudtshoorn
Eastern Province: Die Brandwag or Nico Malan

Small Schools

Western Province: Excelsior or Bellville-Suid
Boland: To be decided by two matches - Dirkie Uys vs Hawston and Groendal vs Langeberg
South Western Districts: To be decided after play-offs
Eastern Province: To be decided
