Watch as former champions square off

Promoter Pat Molefe has enticed two former world champions to headline his weekend tournament at the Expo Centre in Nasrec on Sunday.

SuperSport will broadcast the rematch between IBF champions Cassius Baloyi and Malcolm Klassen.

The fight is technically the main support bout to the SA welterweight title fight between champion Tsiko Mulovhedzi and Kyle Smith, but there is little doubt punters’ attention will be on the battle between the veterans on this Rainbow Promotions event.

Baloyi is trying desperately hard to sustain his career, but at 37 there are no more easy fights for him. Inactivity has also hampered him, although like all great warriors, he refuses to give up the fight.

Klassen is the mystery man of the division, a brilliant talent whose form varies from fight to fight. He’s only lost twice in the past 11 years and he already holds a significant win over Baloyi, having stopped him in seven rounds three years ago.

It remains the only time in 45 fights Baloyi has lost inside the distance.

Meanwhile, inexperienced Mulovhedzi, who has had just nine pro bouts, will be a marginal favourite against Smith in the headliner.

THE UNDERCARD:

Junior-middleweight: Bongani Mlotswa v Sylvester Zaki (six rounds); junior-lightweight: Joey Stiglingh v Nkosinathi Ntsangase (six rounds); junior-welterweight: Jules Batala v Keith Nkosi (six rounds); middleweight: Walter Dlamini v Christo Smith (four rounds); welterweight: Evans Rekhotso v Vusi Bilankulu (four rounds).

SuperSport 4 will broadcast the tournament from 2pm.
