Full live coverage of Fina World Cup
Chad Le Clos, fresh off his Olympic heroics where he beat legendary Michael Phelps against the odds, finds himself in a reversal of roles with everyone gunning for him at the 2012 Fina Swimming World Cup.
All eight of the Fina Swimming World Cup’s two-day meets, spread across Dubai, Qatar, Sweden, Russia, Germany, China, Japan and Singapore, will be broadcast live on SuperSport.
As the champion from last year, the target on Le Clos’ back had always been big, but following his feats in London, the target has gotten a whole lot bigger.
Other South Africans looking to be crowned world champions this year include Olympic 50m breaststroke gold medallist Cameron van der Burgh, who was world champion in 2008 and 2009, 2010 runner-up Darian Townsend, Gerhard Zandberg, Kathryn Meaklim, Suzaan van Biljon and others.
An exciting innovation introduced at the World Cup is a 4x50m mixed-gender relay.
Teams will be made up of two members of each sex and it is up to them to decide whether they want to race men against men or pit a woman against a man.
