Uganda vs Angola live on SuperSport
Uganda host Angola in the opening match of their 2012 Africa Cup of Nations Group J qualification campaign in Kampala on Saturday as the race for a place in the finals in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon begins, live on your World of Champions.
These two are no strangers after meeting in the qualifiers for the World Cup. The home and away fixtures were played within a week of each other in June 2008, and it is Uganda who will take heart from those after a 3-1 win in Kampala, which was followed by a 0-0 draw in the return match in Luanda.
This meeting is a first competitive fixture for Angolan coach Herve Renard, who took over the reins of Palancas Negras after leading Zambia to the quarterfinals of the Nations Cup in Angola in January.
And the French tactician has sprung something of a surprise with the call-up of a 15-year-old goalkeeper from top Portuguese club FC Porto.
Kadu, who plays for the juniors at Porto, trained earlier month with the Angola squad when they were in Lisbon for a friendly against Uruguay, but has now been formally called up as one of the three goalkeepers for the Uganda qualifier.
Angola have lost both their games under Renard so far, a 1-0 defeat to Mexico before the 2010 World Cup, and a 2-0 loss to the Uruguayans in that Lisbon friendly in August.
Uganda, for their part, have lost just once in their last 15 matches, a run that dates back to September 2008. Added to that, they have not lost in Kampala in five years and 22 matches, adding to the enormity of the Angolan task.
