Biography

Born with no pectoral muscles in the left side of his chest, Kevin Paul’s left arm is slightly shorter than his right so he has adapted his stroke to swim predominantly with his shoulder muscles. He swims in the S10 disability category for freestyle, backstroke and butterfly and the SB9 category for breaststroke, and has qualified for five events in London.

Paul won gold in the 100m breaststroke in the Paralympics four years ago at the age of just 17, and currently holds the world record in the event. He will be a strong favourite to win at least one gold medal at the 2012 Games.
