The Russian athletics federation on Wednesday named 31 athletes who will travel to the Olympic Games in London, with the rest of the squad to be unveiled after the ongoing national championships.
Reigning world champions Maria Abakumova, Tatiana Chernova, Tatiana Lysenko, Olga Kaniskina, Anna Chicherova, Yulia Zaripova, Maria Savinova, Valery Borchin and Sergei Bakulin were all included in the Olympic team.
Four 2012 European champions, Irina Davydva, Olga Golovkina, Yury Borzakovsky and Sergei Shubenkov, will also represent Russia at the London Games along with the world record holder in women's pole vault, Yelena Isinbayeva.
The remainder of the team will be named at the Russian Olympic Committee meeting on July 10 after the end of the national championships, which is currently taking place in Cheboksary (Volga region).
