Cluzel to undergo minor surgery

Jules Cluzel will undergo an operation on Friday after a crash at Phillip Island left him wiht a "large and deep hole" in his arm.

The FIXI Crescent Suzuki rider was in action on Day One of the unofficial test at the Australian track, which plays host to next weekend's season-opener.

Crashing at high speed at Turn 11 on the newly resurfaced track, the Frenchman landed heavily on his left elbow, aggravating an earlier injury.

The crash left the World Superbike debutant with a "large and deep hole in his arm" which will be operated on.

According to a statement from his team, Cluzel will have the "non-emergency procedure today in Melbourne and plans to return to the team's base on Phillip Island later in the day."

The 24-year-old is expected to return to action at the start of the official test, which gets underway on Monday.
