Badovini ready to go on the 'attack'
After a brief break, Ayrton Badovini is eager to continue his improved form, confident that a better second half of the season awaits.
The BMW Motorrad Italia rider had a slow start to the season that included just three top ten results in the opening six race weekends. Added to that, he also suffered three retirements.
However, of late he has returned to form, finishing in the top ten at Misano and again at Aragon. At Misano he also recorded his best result of the season when he brought his S1000 RR home in fifth place.
His improved performances have seen him knocking on the top ten in the riders' standings as he's now 11th on 57 points. However, that's still almost 200 behind Championship leader Max Biaggi.
"In the first part of the season we worked to find a standard level of performance that was at least in line with that of the second half of 2011, but some bad luck and difficulty in getting the right set-up, meant we were unable to do so," he told the official World Superbike website.
"From Misano onwards however we've taken a new direction in set-up and have managed to find a balance that has enabled me to make a good step forward in terms of performance.
"In the last couple of rounds we've been fighting up at the front and when this happens even the way in which you face up to the challenges ahead change, and now we can have an attacking approach to the weekend."
The Italian is therefore heading to Brno, confident of a good showing.
"Last season I went well at Brno, a track I like a lot, and I'm sure that the bike will go well there, seeing as the engine has improved a lot on this new version of the S1000 RR."
