Emotional weekend for Fourie

Johan Fourie (IndyOil Audi) heads to Killarney for the second round of the Bridgestone Production Car Championship this weekend.

A crowd favourite, Fourie has always enjoyed great results at his home circuit and this serves to fuel the team's enthusiasm. It is however going to be a challenging weekend with the BMW 335is and Subaru STIs in top form after dominating the Kyalami proceedings.

The team has been working flat out to get Fourie's Audi S4 ready for the Killarney event and whilst there is still a possibility that the car will be ready, its debut is not expected until PE.

This decision to compete with the Audi A4 is completely understandable as Fourie mourns the loss of his father, Mike.

"I would like to offer Johan and his family my deepest sympathy and condolences. We are a very close-knit team and we are all feeling the loss. Mike will be sorely missed and will always remain in my mind an integral part of Johan Fourie Racing," empathised team technical manager Dave Drury.

Motorsport is driven by passion and anyone who has ever observed the changing of an engine between races would have witnessed the fervour that surges through the team. The grief that Fourie and his team feel will have an impact on the weekend and will give Killarney a very personal significance as the team goes racing in memory of Mike Fourie.

There will be three practice sessions on Friday afternoon, with qualifying and four races on Saturday 2 April.
