Rossi undergoes successful surgery
Valentino Rossi underwent surgery on Monday to remove a rod from his right leg, which he broke in 2010.
Rossi crashed heavy at the Mugello circuit in practice almost two years ago and had to undergo an operation, including the insertion of a metal rod, to help his right leg heal.
The rod, though, has now been removed with his Ducati team confirming the Italian's surgery.
"Valentino Rossi underwent a small operation this morning at Cattolica's Cervesi hospital to remove the rod that was inserted in his right tibia following his practice crash at the 2010 Mugello GP. The injury is now completely healed," said a Ducati statement.
The team added the operation "went well" and that the Italian would be back on his bike in time for the second test in Malaysia, which runs from February 28 to March 1.
