Stoner back to his best
Reigning World champion Casey Stoner shrugged off the back injury which kept him out of day one of MotoGP testing to set the fastest time on the second day on the Sepang track.
The Australian hurt his back while warming up on Tuesday, but it was a minor setback as he managed to finish 29 laps on his new RC213V and outclass his rivals with a time of 2:00.895.
Yamaha rider Ben Spies had set the pace in the morning before Stoner's flying lap pushed him into second, while day one pace-setter Jorge Lorenzo finished third. Stoner's Honda teammate Dani Pedrosa was fourth fastest, while Yamaha Tech 3 rider Cal Crutchlow ended the day fifth.
Seven-time world champion Valentino Rossi was seventh in the Ducati and was just edged out of sixth place by Hector Barbera on the Pramac Ducati.
Best of the CRT riders was Colin Edwards in 15th place, but there's still a long way to go for the CRT teams as the American's time was 4.7 seconds slower than leader Stoner.
It was a bad day at the office for Avintia Racing with Ivan Silva amassing just 16 laps due to an engine problem while Robertino Pietri and Jordi Torres also had their days cut short.
The 2012 MotoGP Championship will start on 8th April in Qatar.
