'Germany will have 2013 F1 race '

Formula One will have a German Grand Prix in 2013 despite the financial crisis of the Nuerburgring venue, F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone said.

Speaking ahead of the United States GP weekend in Texas, Ecclestone said "you can be assured that there will be a race there (Germany) next year" and that the Nuerburgring remained first choice although it has filed for insolvency.

Organisers said they currently see no chance to hold the race but talks have resumed about the future of the famous course in western Germany.

The other option is Hockenheim, which alternates with the Nuerburgring, staged this year's edition and would normally be due to hold it again in 2014.

Hockenheim mayor Dieter Gummer told dpa on Wednesday that they have so far not been aproached by Ecclestone about the 2013 race.
