Schumacher, Rosberg singing in the rain

Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg showed little fear of the treacherous wet conditions on Friday as they steered their Mercedes cars to third and fourth fastest in practice for Sunday's British Grand Prix - and declared they are happy if it carries on raining.

Seven-time champion Schumacher, 43, one of the great 'wet racers' of his time, joined Rosberg after a rain-drenched day in praising their team for the work done in making progress in such miserable and challenging conditions.

Schumacher said: "We had reasonably consistent conditions. There was too much water on the circuit in the early part of second free practice, but finally, it was ok to run.

"Even though it was tricky, it's okay in terms of you get used to the track because it (rain) might happen on Sunday. We did a lot of good work."

Rosberg said: "Our car seems to be alright, so from my point of view it can rain!

"In general, it was a good day and very productive. We improved the car a lot from this morning and for similar conditions it was a lot quicker, so I'm quite pleased with that. So it can rain tomorrow, of course, no problem."
