Sauber team in financial trouble
The Sauber team is in fanancial trouble but remains optimistic to overcome the difficult situation and will complete the Formula One season, team principal Monisha Kaltenborn was quoted as saying on Sunday.
"It is true, we are in trouble presently. But we will get out of it again," Kaltenborn told the website of German paper Bild. "We will definitely complete the season."
Kaltenborn did not want to comment on speculation about outstanding bills.
The difficulties of the Swiss are seen on the car which has a lot of unused advertising space.
But Kaltenborn told Swiss paper Blick that "we are in talks with a potential partner" and "on a good way," amid speculation that the partner is Russia's gas company Gazprom.
Things have also below par for Sauber on the track as they rank a modest eighth in the constructors' standings with five points from seven races.
Chief designer Matt Morris left Sauber ahead of Sunday's British Grand Prix for McLaren, and Blick said that the lacking funds have forced the team to stop further development of the car.
