Let’s Play visit Clarkebury High School
Let’s Play was involved in a high profile Mandela Day activation on the 18th July at Clarkebury High School (Mandela’s ex high school) in Ngcobo near Mthatha in partnership with the DBE’s 94+ Madiba school project.
Due to the nostalgia of the school and the roots from where Mandela originated, the event attracted international & local media was attended by the Minister of Education and various other government dignitaries.
Let’s Play in partnership with Active Education facilitated a full soccer/rugby/netball skills activation plus ball distribution to 700 learners plus distribution of 100 soccer balls to kids in the villages on route to the school.
Significantly is that Clarkebury school is identified as one of 94 schools in South Africa where as a partner to the project, Let’s Play through sponsor Hitachi Construction Machinery, will assist in clearing areas to create playing surfaces or fields on which the kids will have the opportunity to play sport. This will be supported by a full sustainable capacity building project via a coaching programme for recruits from within the respective communities to facilitate the play activity & structured sport going forward.
