What initiatives has Let's Play implemented towards the 2010 World Cup?

It is well documented that children who participate in regular sports activity produce better academic results, are healthier, get less involved with negative influences like crime and drugs; and benefit from raised self esteem and confidence.

Let's Play, with support from UNICEF and the Department of Education, have created the Let's Play a Million (LPAM) campaign. LPAM aims to raise funding through public support for 1 million soccer balls, which will be distributed to schools and communities around South Africa to enable them to play. The campaign was launched in May 2007 and will continue until the World Cup in 2010.

A skills development programme, as part of UNICEF's Sport for Development programme, has also been developed, to provice training and instruction for ball beneficiaries to develop sport within the community. «
