Ryu, Thompson to play Aus Masters

US Women's Open champion So Yeon Ryu and American teenager Lexi Thompson will be among the field for February's Australian Masters.

Organisers said on Tuesday that Ryu, who won July's US Open in a playoff, will make her third appearance in the tournament, having been runner-up in 2009 and fifth in 2010.

The 16-year-old Thompson became the youngest player to qualify for the US Open which she first played the tournament aged 12. She turned professional in 2010 at 15 and last September became the youngest winner of an LPGA tournament when she won the Navistar LPGA Classic.

The Australian Masters will be played at the Royal Pines course on the Gold Coast.
