A stellar line-up for Tshwane Open

The stage is set as 156 golfing greats gear up for the Tshwane Open golf tournament, which is scheduled to take place at the Els Club Copperleaf in Centurion at the end of February.

Sunshine Tour's announcement confirmed that, amongst others, international golfers such as 2011 Open Champion Darren Clarke, winning Ryder Cup captain Jose Maria Olazabal, former US Open champion New Zealander Michael Campbell and six-time Euro Tour winner Simon Dyson will be playing at the tournament.

"The City of Tshwane is excited about watching these talented professionals compete for the winner's title and the R17.9 million in prize money.

"This line-up, along with the challenging course at Copperleaf, will ensure that the inaugural Tshwane Open is an event to be remembered," says Tshwane's City Manager, Jason Ngobeni.

"The international contingent, which has confirmed their participation in the inaugural event is certainly an exciting one," commented Duncan Cruickshank, Marketing Director of the Sunshine Tour.

"Each one of them is a legend in his own right and we are looking forward to strong competition from our very best local players who will be given a unique opportunity to show their immense talent, thanks to the Tshwane Open."

The four-day tournament is co-sanctioned by the Sunshine and the European Tour, meaning that the winner gains valuable Official World Golf Ranking points, a two-year European Tour exemption and a solid boost in their Race to Dubai rankings.

The championship will not only benefit tourism, but also looks set to boost small business in the area as visitors explore Tshwane.

The Tshwane Open will take place from February 28 to March 3.
