Javier Ballesteros to step in father's footsteps

Javier Ballesteros, the son of late golfing great Seve, will play in a professional tournament for the first time on Thursday on the same course where his father made his pro debut.

The 21-year-old Ballesteros has entered the Spanish tour event at the Sant Cugat club as an amateur and has been grouped with double European Tour winner Pablo Larrazabal and fellow Spaniard Txomin Hospital.

Javier Ballesteros says it is a "double excitement" to know he is playing the same course where his father made his professional debut in 1974.

Javier, whose father died last May, says he has "no pressure for being Seve's son," and plans to complete his law studies before considering whether to take up the game professionally.
