US stars join Gary Player Invitational SA
The Gary Player Invitational South Africa, presented by Coca-Cola, has attracted another glittering line-up of professional golfers, celebrities and top businessmen for this year’s tournament at the Zimbali Coastal Resort in KwaZulu-Natal from 22-25 November 2012.
The Player Foundation this week announced the early list of competitors for the charity tournament, which has raised over R25 million for children’s charities in South Africa.
The field will include actress and model Angie Everhart and actor Jack Wagner, as well as PGA Tour professional Tim Clark, with more announcements set to be made.
“It’s wonderful to have Angie and Jack make their first trip to South Africa to support us. And Tim has been such a longstanding supporter of the Gary Player Invitational and our charities. We’re really pleased to have him back in the field,” said Player.
The Gary Player Invitational series travels around the world raising money for charity. The 2012 series teed off in the USA and has travelled to Europe and China before culminating in South Africa. This is the second year in succession that the tournament will be played at Zimbali.
Clark is making his sixth appearance in the Gary Player Invitational, and his first since 2005. The winner of the 2010 Players Championship has a close association with The Black Knight. Clark played in two Presidents Cups with Player as captain of the International Team.
Both Everhart and Wagner are making their debut in the series.
“The Gary Player Invitational South Africa is always the culmination of a year of hard work by Coca-Cola and The Player Foundation to raise as much money as we can for charity. We have always taken great pleasure in supporting Gary’s nominated charities - the Wildlands Conservation Trust and the Port Elizabeth based Wings and Wishes - throughout our long association with him,” said Zipporah Maubane of Coca-Cola. “We are looking forward to another exciting and rewarding tournament in South Africa.”
