Dynamos thump Highlanders

Dynamos proved their status as kings of Zimbabwe football when they successfully defended the Bob Super Cup by beating Highlanders 4-0 in the second-leg played at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.

DeMbare won the two-legged tournament 6-1 on aggregate after winning the first leg 2-1 on 10 February at Bourberfield Stadium.

Dynamos four goals were scored through Patrick Khumbula in the eigth and 39th minutes; defender Partson Jaure continued his good scoring form when he scored in the 10th and Simon Munawa wrapped up the encounter just a minute after half-time.

Now Dynamos will turn their attention to the CAF Champions League away to Lesotho Correctional Services with a 3-0 advantage from last week’s victory at home.

If the team can continue playing the way they have been doing in the pre-season they seem destined for yet another great season after two consecutive doubles – a feat that allowed the Glamour Boys to enter the history books.

Just like last season, the Harare giants started the off by winning the Bob Super Cup. The result will also ease the nerves of coach Callisto Pasuwa who saw three of his key attackers head to South African clubs in the off season.

Simba Sithole joined SuperSport United, Denver Mukamba signed a contract with BidVest Wits and Rodrick Mutuma moved to Bloemfontein Celtic.
