Dynamos to assess Marere

Former Dynamos player Benjamin Marere could be on his way back to the club for the new season.

The talented campaigner left the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions in 2011.

DeMbare will be playing in the CAF Champions League this campaign and will rely on their experienced charges to help them navigate the challenges they could face on their continental travels.

However, Marere, should he return to the club, would not feature in the tournament as Dynamos have already submitted their 25-man squad for the prestigious showpiece.

Dynamos coach Callisto Pasuwa was non-committal when asked to comment on Marere’s prospective return to the side. Pasuwa said Marere would first have to prove he could add value to the team before being handed a contract.

“Yes it could be true that Marere is rejoining us but it could be premature for us to say that,” said Pasuwa.

“It would be great to have him here but we have to see what he can offer to the team. We have a tough season ahead and we need a very strong team. Playing in Africa as well as the local tournaments will need a well balanced squad and that’s what we want to build,” concluded the Zimbabwean league’s coach of the year.
