Monomotapa braced for player exit
Monomotapa is set to lose players in the off season with the likes of Ronald Chitiyo attracting interest from champions Dynamos while Osborne Mukuradare and goalkeeper Artwell Mukandi are said to be on Platinum’s wanted list.
And, not to be caught napping, Monomotapa themselves have started scouting for players from other teams to replace the experienced players in the event that they leave.
Assistant coach George Jojo has been looking at the Robert Mugabe National Schools Under-20 Championships, which is played at Kutama College, to try and scout players to come and join the team.
Jojo said that they normally go everywhere in the country to scout for talent which they think can help the team. He told Supersport.com that they saw some good players at the tournament but they haven’t made any final decisions yet.
“We may lose players at the start of the coming season and as a team we don’t want to be found wanting when that time comes and that is why we are scouting for young players,” he said.
“This is different from the trials because we see the players in action and that gives us the full knowledge of how good the player is. “As I have said, we are preparing for the start of the next season so that even if we lose some players we can be ready to start the season without problems,” Jojo concluded.
