Musona star on the wane

Former Kaizer Chiefs goal ace Knowledge Musona has lost his place at German club FC Augsburg after now going one and a half seasons without a Bundesliga goal.

The 22-year-old, who moved from AmaKhosi to Germany last year, has played nine games on loan from Hoffenheim at second from bottom Augsburg this season but not featured in their last two games, dropped even from the 18-man squad this past weekend.

He last featured for the team on November 25 as a late substitute, given a five minute cameo at the end of the game at home to Borussia Moenchengladbach.

Musona finished the leading scorer in South Africa’s Premier Soccer League at the end of the 2010-11 season, precipitating a R15-million move to Hoffenheim.

But despite a total of 16 games last season at, the Zimbabwe international did not find the net for his new club and was loaned out to Augsburg.

He has since managed a cup goal for Augsburg but not scored for them in the league and now finds his rising star on the wane.

Augsburg have not won in their last eight Bundesliga games and next meet leaders Bayern Munich on Saturday.
