Best XI to be named on Sunday

The Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League will sit down with different football stakeholders to select this season’s Best XI Soccer Stars on Saturday.

The elite league governing body has involved soccer officials, coaches and administrators as well as journalists to come up with the best eleven players who have played in the Castle Lager League this season.

PSL CEO Kennedy Ndebele said that since the league is coming to an end on Sunday, they should have the names by Saturday. He said that the stakeholders involved will deliberate on who have been the best players, despite the Asiagate scandal which has rocked the country and league this season.

“Yes, we will be selecting the Best XI Soccer Stars on Saturday. It is true there have been up and downs in the league but we had a successful season and since the league is coming to the end on Sunday, we have to finalise the best players’ selection on Saturday,” he said.

“Journalists who have been covering games as well as coaches and administrators will help us on the selection,” he added.

Ndebele says that the entire PSL Awards ceremony will be held on 7 December, after the Mbada Diamonds Cup final on 24 November.
