Dynamos see off CAPS United

Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Simba Sithole continued his scoring form once again as he helped Dynamos beat CAPS United in the semifinals of the Mbada Diamonds Cup.

They will now head to the final of the tournament where they face Monomotapa on 24 November.

Dynamos won 3-0 at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday, with Sithole scoring his goal in the 58th minute – but that was after Denver Mukumba had opened the scoring in the 39th minute in the first half. Roderick Mutuma made it 3-0 late in the game.

Dynamos are now on the verge of winning a double as they try to defend the Mbada Diamonds Cup which they won last year, as well as the Castle Lager League title – with Dynamos on top of the league table, two points ahead of Highlanders with two games to go.

Talking to Sithole after the game, he praised the team work at the side, saying that their efforts were rewarded with a place in the final.

“I think we did very well in the game today. CAPS played very well but we wanted to go to the finals and we did it,” he said.

“At the moment we are not thinking of the final yet. We are taking one game at a time. It is good we have reached the final and we have league games to think about as well before playing the final.”

Last weekend, Dynamos beat Monomotapa 2-1 in a league game, but a tough encounter is expected between the two sides as they fight for the trophy in the final.
