Monomotapa book final spot

Monomotapa have continued their good form in the Mbada Diamonds Cup where they have reached the final after beating FC Platinum in Mutare on Saturday.

Monomotapa won 1-0, with the all-important goal coming in the second-half after a goalless first period.

Kudakwashe Musharu scored in the 49th minute to take his team to the final where they will meet the winner between Dynamos and CAPS United, who are playing at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo on Sunday.

The first-half of the game was tightly contested in the first period but just five minutes into the second period Masharu would net the decisive goal.

Monomotapa coach Biggie Zuze believes that his side should have done more with the chances that they created, but was happy to book a place in the final.

“You know the game was tough but in the first 30 minutes in the first we created a lot of chances and we could have scored,” he said.

“We had two or three clear cut chances within 30 minutes. We could have wrapped it up in the first half. In the second-half though we scored (but) Platinum made it a bit tough for us as they resorted to high balls. But I think we deserved to be in the finals and we will just wait to see who we play on November 24,” Zuze concluded.
