All set for Mwaruwari testimonial match
A galaxy of former and current stars have arrived in Harare for Benjani Mwaruwari’s testimonial match that will take place on Saturday at National Sports Stadium.
The star studded match will witness Benjani All Stars playing against Zimbabwe Warriors in a match that will be used to celebrate his career as a player.
Some of the players that will feature include: Emmanuel Adebayor, Yaya and Kolo Toure, John Utaka, Dennis Oliech, Alex Song, El Haji Diouf, Chris Samba, Khalilou Fadiga, Steven Pienaar, Lucas Redebe, Benni McCarthy, Doctor Khumalo, Jay Jay Okocha, Daniel Amokachi, Samuel Kuffuor, Emmanuel Frimpong, John Mensah and Stephen Appiah.
The proceeds of the match will provide access to coaching, training, mentoring and education to under privileged children at Benjani Mwaruwari Academy.
“Benjani Mwaruwari Foundation makes provisions for youngsters under 18 years old to help in areas of financial difficulties which are hindering their progress. Coaching youngsters locally in football and providing educational programs will help build communities and improve health within disadvantaged areas.”
”This will be the first of its kind in Zimbabwe. The Academy will unite communities and enable talented sportsmen and women to achieve their full potential,” Dentaa Guba told SuperSport.com.
Mwaruwari retired from International football in October 2010 following Zimbabwe’s 0-0 draw with Cape Verde.
