Fifa happy with Zambian football development
World Soccer governing body Fifa has expressed delight with the progress the Football Association of Zambia continues to make in football development; stressing that Football House's commitment to excellence would continue taking Zambian football forward.
A delegation from Fifa which arrived in Lusaka last weekend reckons Zambian football growth will expand from the success of the men's game to the women's following renewed commitment and resolutions of the just ended first ever Women Football Com-Unity seminar.
Between Monday 18th and Thursday 22nd February, Zambian football recorded another milestone as the country hosted the Fifa Com-Unity seminar in Lusaka. The seminars are aimed at promoting women's football, and attracting investment in the women's game from other sectors within the community in a given country. The programmes help members to build their capacity in the areas of relationship management, communication and marketing.
The Fifa mission to Zambia was led by Florie Ramogodi from the Southern Africa Regional Development Office in Gaborone in Botswana. Others in the delegation included Mr Ian Riley from the United Kingdom, Mr Matthew Haikali of Namibia while Mr Rix Mweemba, a local Fifa regional instructor worked with the visiting Fifa experts.
Faz Communications Manager Erick Mwanza confirmed that following the proceedings at the Golf View hotel, the seminar programme concluded with a women football exhibition held at OYDC on Thursday. A meeting between Faz and Fifa reviewed the seminar resolutions which both parties expressed satisfaction with.
"The seminar was a huge success. It underscored the commitment of the Faz President and entire administration's quest to take our women football to higher heights. We look forward to augmenting the women football development plans that are in our new strategic plan with those that have been formulated over the last three days of the community seminar," Mwanza said.
Ramogodi added: "Fifa is delighted to see progress in Zambian football. Faz is not only excelling with the men's football but the commitment and implementation of the resolutions from a very enthusiastic seminar will set women football on a path where you can even dream of competing for a place at the 2015 Fifa Women World Cup finals in Canada."
