Forlan left out of Uruguay squad vs Chile



Inter Milan forward Diego Forlan is the main absentee from the Uruguay squad to face Chile in World Cup qualifying next week.

Forlan was injured playing for Uruguay in a 1-1 draw at Paraguay in the previous round of qualifiers last month.

Coach Oscar Tabarez has called up Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and Napoli forward Edinson Cavani among the list of 23 players, who all play in foreign clubs.

Uruguay hosts Chile in Montevideo on November 11 looking to continue a promising start to the South American qualifying campaign, which began with a 4-2 home win over Bolivia before the draw with Paraguay.

Uruguay plays Italy in a friendly four days after the Chile match.

Uruguay:

Goalkeepers: Fernando Muslera (Galatasaray), Juan Castillo (Colo Colo), Martin Silva (Olimpia).

Defenders: Diego Lugano (Paris Saint Germain), Diego Godin (Atletico Madrid), Andres Scotti (Colo Colo), Sebastian Coates (Liverpool), Martin Caceres (Sevilla), Jorge Fucile (Porto), Mauricio Victorino (Cruzeiro).

Midfielders: Alvaro Gonzalez (Lazio), Egidio Arevalo Rios (Tijuana), Diego Perez (Bologna), Sebastian Eguren (Sporting Gijon), Alvaro Pereira (Porto), Cristian Rodriguez (Porto), Gaston Ramirez (Bologna), Nicolas Lodeiro, (Ajax).

Forwards: Luis Suarez (Liverpool), Edinson Cavani (Napoli), Sebastian Abreu (Botafogo), Abel Hernandez (Palermo), Sebastian Fernandez, (Malaga).
