Modric leads Spurs vs Pirates

Want-away midfielder Luka Modric captained Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday in a Vodacom Challenge tournament match against Orlando Pirates at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.

The Croat wishes to join London rivals Chelsea, who have had two offers of more than £20 million ($32 million) rejected with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy insisting none of his leading footballers are for sale.

An ankle injury ruled Modric out of the opening Challenge match last Saturday in which 2011 Champions League quarterfinalists Tottenham conceded a stoppage-time goal to lose 1-0 against Kaizer Chiefs.
